Marie Albertson, author of Old Librarians Never Die, They Jump out of Airplanes, has penned another book about her late-in-life adventures. Following the cult phrase of '50 Shades', she has put together 50 Shades of Humor, Laughing all the Way to the Library. The book recalls humorous incidents in her library work as well as articles that inspire and motivate all readers to follow their dreams and do everything in life that they have ever wanted to do.
After meeting people on her kayaking trips out west (she learned to kayak at age 65) who had traveled around the world, she set a goal to visit every continent which she has done now except Antartica. "Some trips may be outside my budget," she concedes. Her latest trips include a safari in Tanzania where her African guide considered leaving her as the tenth wife of the old chief in a Maasai village. In Italy she was exposed in the wrong bathroom. "Sorry boys, I was in a hurry."
Always seeking a challenge, she has mastered (almost) Stand Up Boarding, drove a Lamborghini, and took a flying lesson in the last year. In other words, she lives by the phrase "You are never too old." At age 82 she is still looking for adventure.
Marie earned a Master's Degree in Library Science at age 60 from Indiana University. She illustrates that you are never too old. She also earned an Associate's Degree in Human Services at Ivy Tech after retiring from the Indiana State Library of Indianapolis.
