For people (such as myself) that were previously unfamiliar with A Song of Ice and Fire, this box is an excellent way to get the first four books of the series in one convenient set.

The first three books are all 5-star material: the characters are interesting and develop throughout and the plot moves along at a steady pace so that you won't be able to put them down. The fourth book covers only about half of the characters, and at that, not always the interesting ones. The plot also seems to have come to a bit of a halt. That said, the series is interesting enough that even the fourth book will be an entertaining read and will leave you eager to start on book 5.

This series is considered fantasy and does contain elements of magic and dragons and the like, but the overall sense you get from these books is that its about power struggles in a medieval setting. This makes the series easily accessible for readers that are perhaps not as fond of or familiar with fantasy books.

Just finished the first book and totally enjoyed it. If the rest of the series is 1/2 as good as this, I'll be more than satisfied.
Fantastic plot, good & believable characters (with a few minor exceptions), and a world well imagined and crafted.
Service from Bol was great, package arrived before the promised delivery date.
For the price you get four meaty books in a nice set and weeks of reading enjoyment. Well worth it!

Zoals al velen hier hebben beschreven, zijn de boeken fenomenaal en is het zeker een aanrader om aan de serie te beginnen.
De boeken kwamen goed binnen, al duurde de levering wel een aantal dagen meer dan verwacht was volgens de bol.com status. Zo kwam ondanks mijn instelling om mijn volledige bestelling in 1x te ontvangen, toch mijn los bestelde boek 5 eerder binnen dan de rest van de serie. Een beetje jammer dat ik daar weinig aan had.

De boeken passen net in de box en na het lezen zal je er waarschijnlijk niet meer dan 3 tegelijk in kwijt kunnen. De boeken zelf zijn qua papier helaas van vrij slechte kwaliteit. Als je ook maar je vinger lichtjes over letters heenhaalt, veeg je de letters ongeveer weg en dat is dan met droge handen. Ook de zijkanten van het papier worden snel lelijk, overigens is dit deels een voordeel aangezien je tijdens de 1e keer lezen geen boekenlegger nodig hebt. Je ziet namelijk vanaf de zijkant van het boek precies waar je al geweest bent.

Als je een boekenliefhebber bent die de boeken waarschijnlijk nog tientallen keren wil lezen of lang wil bewaren, zou ik je aanraden om voor betere kwaliteit boeken te gaan.
