I did not get this book from Bol, but read it on my Kindle as an e-book. That aside...
Really, really good. PR can actually write quite well, which is not always the case with SFF writers. It does take a little bit to get going but once it does, hard to put down.
The main character (narrator) can be a bit annoying, but that is intentional. He comes across as an extremely gifted, arrogant know-it-all who is always right, but he is telling his own story, so from his POV he can do little wrong. We all tend to embellish our own deeds and he is no different. Once you get used to this and settle into the story it really is excellent.
The world is very believable, especially Tarbean and the University. Characters are complex enough and the plot is also well-crafted.
All in all, a must for every fantasy fan.
